KILCLUNEY VOLUNTEERS FLUTE BAND, MARKETHILL

ANNUAL BAND PARADE FRIDAY 2nd JUNE 2000

Friday the 2nd of June saw the annual procession of Kilcluney Volunteers Flute Band  take place in Markethill. Despite recent obstacles the band faced when trying to promote the parade and a very suspicious fire along the parade route during the parade (statement coming soon), the night proved to their most successful ever, with unprecedented  crowds lining the streets of the town. The parade began with the Garston Flute Band from Liverpool, who recieved a greart reception from the crowd. They were followed by a total of 49 other bands from all 6 counties of Northern Ireland, all combining to give a great display of colour and musical prowess. Accordian bands, Pipe bands, Silver bands, Melody flute bands and Blood and Thunder flute bands all took part in the parade, which was a great advertisement for the band scene in the province.
