ANNUAL ORANGE ORDER CELEBRATIONS
GLASGOW 8th JULY 2000
On friday the 7th of July KVFB traveled to parade in Glasgow for the first time. We were staying with the Thistle LOL 72 in Denniston. On the Friday night the band played to a great crowd in the district club, and the atmosphere was fantastic. On Saturday morning we set out on parade at 7.30 am for what was definetly the longest walk the band has ever done. Estimates range from 14 miles to 19 miles, however everytime you asked a lodge member it was 'just round the next corner'. Irrespective of the length, it was still a fantastic parade. The atmosphere and the crowds lining the route were amazing. That night the band played in the Bristol Bar in Duke Street, and were greeted and appaluded by a full house. It was yet another class nights crack. In all it was a great weekend and hopefully the band will be there again next year with a bigger turnout. Thanks to all in the Thistle LOL for putting the boys up (and putting up with the boys!), and a particular thanks to Norey, Rab and Alex. Also a big hello to the guys and gals of the Highlander Accordian Band from Liverpool who we were with in the hall. Thanks also to the bands photographers (various wives/girlfriends), and also mev and Harry form POTH. Some of the photos are not great, but they are better than none. If anyone knows who the bands are that have no caption let us know and we'll add their name. Plus if you have some photos of the parade send us them and we'll add them as well.
